Today’s article on Honolulu Star-Advertiser.
As I stated before, I suspect possible conflict of interest, because this article mentions mostly, if not all, the benefits, but not much of risks and other options or alternatives, of having the 1st class mobile clinic for the homeless.
I believe, having more detailed fundamental long term plan (covering all possible related issues) and setting the priorities (for solving the homeless problems), should have been done first. (If the fundamental blueprint already exists, then announce it together; and/or explain why this mobile clinic should be done first before any other plans.)
Besides, running this proposed mobile clinic may not necessaily reduce much the ER costs due to their unnecessary visits. And, 10.6 millions, the annual cost of their ER visits, might have been inflated, because the unnecessary visit may mainly pertain to utilization and/or minimal use of their ALREADY existing and implemented resources. The newspaper and Dr. Green should provide more details, e.g. if the amount is based on UCR fee or not, since it is suspected it may not be the actual cost.
Investigation on Dr. Green’s and/or Star-Advertiser’s, and/or other’s relationship to this bill, (i.e. checking possible conflict of interest), may be necessary…!
