Dr. Richard Kim (Rich K) was born as a singer and a songwriter (in Seoul, Korea in 1960). He wrote his first song when he was very young, approximately when he was 7 years old. As he was growing up, Dr. Kim has repeatedly sung at church both as soloist and as choir member for many years: He was Concert Choir member at UCLA, and he also wrote and sung multiple songs during his college years. Dr. Kim was Grand Prize Winner of (Korean) Campus Song Festival in UCLA, and further Grand Prize Winner in the entire Southern California region (among the college students). Later, when he pursued further education (in dentistry) at Columbia University in New York, he received a voice (classical) training from Ms. Lynn Owen, who used to be a prima donna at Metropolitan Opera. Dr. Kim appeared on multiple stages as a classical singer.

Dr. Kim’s family moved to Hawaii when he was still a teenager, (right after graduating from high school in Korea). Unfortunately, during the teenage years, he lost his mom (in Korea) and his father (in Hawaii). But, Dr. Kim believes his value grew in Hawaii and he feels the Hawaiian music in his heart.
Dr. Kim was away from Hawaii for many years due to his education and career. However, his never ending longing for returning to Hawaii inspired him to write a song about “MILILANI”, which is located in Central Oahu.
Fortunately, Dr. Kim has now returned to his island home.
