Announcement of My Candidacy for Senate in 2016

Aloha!
Dear Friends,
Today, I announce my candidacy (as a member of Democratic Party) for Senate, District 9 (Hawaii Kai to Kahala and Diamond Head) in State Of Hawaii.
Over 35 years ago, I came to Hawaii as a teenager, (the youngest child of a Korean immigrant family), dreaming of the American dream.
And, here I am; after over 2 decades traveling around across the United States to better myself, I am back to where I first landed in America. Although many may congratulate for my achievements, others may say I have yet to fulfill the American dream, due to my struggles along the way.
However, one thing is sure; wherever I was, I have not given up and lost hope (in the concept of) “Aloha”. And, thru my 12 years of higher education at four different universities in the United States from the West to East Coast and (further with the excellent credentials and experience), I have gained and continuously reinforced my status quo, as well as pursuing and fighting against inequality and injustice.
The key words and my motto will be “Common Sense” and “Aloha”.
Hawaii has been a center of melting pot with relatively well balanced demographic representation of each ethnic group and race in the nation. That is why I believe we will be a role model in this country because our unique community of balanced representation of the people may be a barometer and give us a direction to where this country should be heading in the future. To help guide our great State of Hawaii to a leading role, I want to help preserve the value and spirit of Aloha. And, I will do my best to bring my energy and attention to current and possible future issues of the district and the entire state.
I have genuine care for people of Hawaii. I want to give back my talents that I have accumulated over the years. Please, join me in helping preserve and promote our invaluable Aloha Spirit on these beautiful island paradise (as well as spreading it to other parts of the world).
Now, in this tumultous and rapidly changing current world, I want not only to fulfill my life’s continuous endeavor to be better myself but also to help “The Great State of Hawaii” grow further more from where we are now. Although myself not perfect, but with your help, I believe we can do and make together.
I believe this is what our generations of Kupunas and ancestors have bestowed upon us to carry on. And we will continue this legacy, and try to inherit it again to our next coming generations, fully and abundantly.
Mahalo nui loa.
